The Jolly Harvest Project
While in Australia I worked on an Urban Fruit Harvesting Project for my Permaculture Design Project aptly named the JOLLY HARVEST PROJECT. The idea was much similar to the Portland Fruit Tree Project in that it would identify existing urban food producing trees/vines, organize harvesting parties and spread the abundance of produce. Here is a link to the project PDF we created for JHP.

Re-Evolving Space
RE-EVOLVING SPACE 10/01/10 from Leah Pistorius on Vimeo. A stop motion animation of just one room taken while I was at the ECOSA Institute in Prescott, AZ during Fall 2010.  We were given 3 days to completely transform our 5 room studio space into a 3D art installation.  It was an exhilarating experience to figure out what we wanted to create and then do it in such a short time period.  We...

ART IN NATURE: Contextual Beauty
Sometimes you just want to go outside and play.  There is something comforting about a being outside amongst the plants, animals, birds, bugs, sun, air and water.  Its an almost innate part of our programming to be attracted to life and all its parts.  Some call it biophilia, i call it fun!   About two weeks ago we met with a ‘natural’ artist named Roger Asay for a lesson on art in...

HANDS ON CONSTRUCTION: CHICKEN COOP
In the last month or so we have been taking classes on construction methods and materials from the Ecosa Institutes associate director Tom Hahn.  A lot of what he has been teaching us has been in the classroom, but we finally were able to get outside and do some hands on construction with natural building materials.  Our job was to complete a chicken coop half-finished by the summer semester in...
